ICES, INFORMAL EARLY FEEDBACK, FOCUS GROUPS

There are several ways to assess teaching and learning in your classes. These methods can be informal or formal, and be administered in the middle of the term or at the end. Here are some of the ways the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning can assist you.

Instructor and Course Evaluation System (ICES)
ICES is the official end-of-course student ratings system used to evaluate instructor and course effectiveness for both faculty and teaching assistants.

Informal Early Feedback
Informal Early Feedback is an especially helpful method for receiving feedback during the semester about the teaching and learning in your class. This allows instructors to gather, analyze, and act on student feedback while the class is still in progress.

Focus Groups
Information from student focus groups supplements the course evaluation information provided by ICES.
